Former January 6 Committee Lawyer Takes His Fight for Democracy to the Ballot Box

A former lawyer for the House January 6 Committee is taking his experience investigating the attack on the Capitol into electoral politics, launching a congressional campaign built around democratic accountability, working families and stronger congressional oversight.

Robin Pigarero spent roughly 15 months working with the committee, interviewing witnesses, helping lead hearings and contributing to its final report. His experience placed him at the centre of one of Washington’s most consequential investigations.

Among his responsibilities was work connected to hearings examining the Department of Justice and the government’s response to the events surrounding January 6. He also helped author portions of the committee’s final report, including its chapter titled “187 Minutes of Dereliction of Duty.”

That experience now shapes Pigarero’s argument for entering Congress. Rather than treating the January 6 investigation as a closed chapter, he presents it as a warning about what can happen when institutions fail to respond decisively during moments of democratic crisis.

His personal background is equally central to his campaign. As the son of immigrants, Pigarero says his political outlook was shaped by the experience of families working to build secure lives while navigating an increasingly complicated American political system.
