Harris Names Her Most Effective Presidents — But Leaves Biden Off the List

Kamala Harris praised Franklin D. Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy and Barack Obama while notably excluding the president she served under for four years.

Former Vice President Kamala Harris was asked to name the three most effective presidents in American history. Her answer quickly drew attention for one conspicuous omission: Joe Biden.

During an appearance Friday at the National Urban League conference, National Urban League President Marc Morial asked Harris to identify her top three most effective presidents.

“Oh Marc, don’t make me do that,” Harris replied before naming Franklin D. Roosevelt as her first choice.

Harris credited Roosevelt with responding to the Great Depression by expanding the federal government’s role through New Deal programs. She specifically pointed to Social Security and Roosevelt’s belief that government should invest in Americans during times of crisis.

Harris then turned to John F. Kennedy, saying she credited the former president with laying the groundwork for initiatives that were later advanced by Lyndon B. Johnson.
